Witten, Deutschland, Sat, Oct 21 2006Manifestation against LEG Sale in DortmundAt October 13 about 800 persons joined a protest march in Dortmund, Germany, against the sale of the country-owned LEG. The march was organized by the shop stewards of the Ruhr-Lippe housing company. 50 % of the shares of this social landlord are owned by LEG. The employees fear a reduction of the personal staff after a sale of LEG and Ruhr-Lippe to financial investors. The march was even supported by employees of other departments of LEG, affected tenants and private craftsmen, who fear to loose their jobs if new financial owners will search for cheapest solutions in the whole European Union. It was the first time that Ruhr-Lippe employees organize a protest march. Next step in Ruhr district mobilization is the national campaign of the Trade Unions against anti-social policies, next Saturday. The initiative for safe homes and jobs in NRW will join the march in Dortmund.
